Wow! We have come a long way...
We have had three lessons on drawing portraits, starting with a Viking portrait and finishing today with a self portrait.
We worked on various shading techniques to imply texture.
We looked at the shape & proportion of faces and discussed how to divide up the face so that features end up the right shape and size, and in the right place.
We studied black & white pictures to see where shadows appear on faces, and did some shading exercises to help us with tone.
We also practised drawing eyes.
These portraits show how much we have learned.

As part of our topic on Vikings we had our first art lesson where we worked on using paper to create 3D pictures.
The main idea was to explore ways of folding or curling paper to create a number of effects.
We practised various methods and explored ways to join these.
We finally applied our new skills to create these 'portraits' of Vikings...
